A Look Back at Domain Name Sales in Q1 2014
10/04/2014 - On August 11, Verisign released its quarterly Domain Name Industry Brief. According to Verisign, "The first quarter of 2014 closed with a base of 276 million domain name registrations across all top- level domains (TLDs), an increase of five million domain names, or 1.7 percent over the fourth quarter of 2013. Registrations have grown by 19.3 million, or 7.5 percent, year over year." Overall, the total number of domains increase by 1.7% in Q1 compared to the previous quarter.

According to nTLDStats.com, the total # of domains in new TLDs increased by 2.2% in Q2, which puts the new TLD growth rate slightly ahead of the industry as a whole, with some of the most anticipated new TLDs still to come.
