.Diy

There were two applications filed with ICANN from companies wishing to create the .DIY Top Level Domain. One applicant, Charleston Road Registry (owned by Google Inc.), plans to sell domain names within the .DIY Top Level Domain to the public. The other applicant, Lifestyle Domain Holdings, Inc. (parent company Scripps Networks Interactive) Inc., does not intend to sell domain names within the .DIY Top Level Domain to the general public.

If Google is approved as the operator of the .DIY Top Level Domain, Google will sell domain names such as HardwoodFloors.DIY or Sheetrock.DIY to the general public through authorized domain distributors such as GoDaddy.com.

On the other hand if Lifestyle Domain Holdings, Inc. is approved as the operator of the .DIY Top Level Domain, Lifestyle Domain Holdings, Inc. and its parent company Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. will use the .DIY Top Level Domain to provide quality programming and content to Internet audiences through its own .DIY domain names.

Since at least one of the applicants does intend to sell .DIY domain names to the general public, Get New TLDs Inc. will accept pre-registration requests for the .DIY Top Level Domain. Pre-registrations are free and non-binding.
